If you are addicted to opiates, then it is time for you to go through detoxification.
Deciding to undergo opiate detox is a wonderful decision. Keep telling yourself that it is your decision to detox. Empowering yourself is extremely important as you prepare for the next phase.
A successful opiate detox program requires a day-to-day plan. The most important task is to prepare yourself for the next five days.
Before You Begin
Contact a friend or counselor. Ask if they will be available to speak with you about opiate detox for about an hour a day at your home. You should arrange appointment times over the phone.
Go to the pharmacy and buy some Imodium, sleeping pills, and a mineral or vitamin supplement with several different types of minerals. Next, prepare around twenty-four servings of soup you love. Make sure the soup is relatively easy to prepare and eat. Lastly, make about fifteen pancakes or waffles and refrigerate them.
Your first symptoms will begin eight to ten hours after taking your last sniff, pill, or injection. After eight hours, take the mineral or vitamin supplement. Continue to take the pill once every twelve hours.
After twelve hours you will start to get the more severe side effects. Your muscles will begin to ache due to being numbed from the opium for so long. Sadly, you will also become nauseated and have diarrhea.
Take an Imodium as soon as you feel nauseated or begin to have diarrhea. Dehydration, which is caused by nausea and diarrhea, can be a serious problem. The Imodium will help keep you hydrated.
Lastly, most people also sweat profusely during the opiate detox exercise. There is not much you can do to stop sweating. Drink plenty of fluids and eat soup to stay hydrated.
Day two is the worst day. If you can make it through day two, then you have a high chance of making it through the whole opiate detox ordeal. When your guest comes over, you should rely on them for support. Venting frustrations will also help a great deal.
Take as many Imodium as you need to stem the nausea and diarrhea. In addition, make sure you are taking the supplement. To make matters even more complicated, you will have trouble sleeping on day two.
To sleep, take one sleeping pill and prepare a hot bath. Soak in the bath to ease your muscle pain. As soon as you feel ready to sleep, get out of the bath, dry off, and get in bed. Sleep will help with the pain experienced during day two.
The worst is over. Continue to take Imodium as you need it, and you should rely on hot baths to ease sore muscles. Try to eat a comfort food. The waffles or pancakes mentioned earlier are decent choices.
Relax by watching TV, playing games or reading.
Continue to try and eat solid foods. If you feel nauseated, rely on soup and your supplement to keep yourself nourished. Try to go outside and walk around a little, but don’t stray too far from your home. Go back inside and relax after exercising.
The worst of the symptoms should be gone by the end of day five. Plan to cook a real meal and get some exercise outside. Go on a walk with a friend, and ask if they would like to eat dinner with you. Try to stay as active as possible.
If you are addicted, then do not wait to make the decision to travel the opiate detox road. Make the decision before it is too late.
